Refuge Retreat

How do we protect ourselves from the storms of suffering raging around and within us?

Protecting ourselves from suffering requires understanding its root cause.

According to Buddhist teachings (Dharma), suffering arises from our response to external conditions, not the conditions themselves. By examining our minds, we can identify states that produce misery and those that produce happiness. Buddha’s teachings guide us in overcoming negative thoughts and cultivating virtuous ones, leading to liberation pain and suffering and to the peace of enlightenment.

This kind of protection can be found through reliance upon Buddha, Dharma and Sangha (pure spiritual practitioners).

By practicing refuge, we gain confidence and strength to make authentic spiritual progress. Through this we build stable peace, joy and freedom within our own heart that we can then share with others.

The retreat will be guided by Buddhist monk, Gen Kelsang Jampel.

This retreat is suitable for those with some experience, but everyone is welcome to attend any of the sessions.
